So you've got your Charles and Diana mug, your Queen's Jubilee mug and maybe even a mug to celebrate your birthday, but how about a mug celebrating this year's European Capital of Culture - Liverpool.

Thanks to Utility (www.utilitydesign.co.uk) and ceramics brand People Will Always Need Plates (PWANP), you can now add a limited edition mug depicting Liverpool's iconic architecture to your collection.

Specially commissioned by Design Show Liverpool, which will arrive in the city in June, PWANP has created a special range of plates, mugs and notepads inspired by six of Liverpool's landmark buildings including Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King; Liverpool Cathedral; Liverpool John Moores University Art and Design Academy; Radio City Tower; Tinsley Street; and the Kingsway (Wallasey) Tunnel Ventilation Tower - all of which will retail exclusively at Utility's Liverpool stores on Bold Street and online at www.utilitydesign.co.uk

PWANP products are created by design duo Hannah Dipper, an RCA ceramist, and Robin Farquhar, a Brunel industrial design graduate. Robin says: "We find the city really inspiring - Liverpool's got a great creative buzz, a rich architectural heritage and a lot of enthusiasm".

Dick Mawdsley, co-founder, Utility comments: "As sponsors of the first Design Show Liverpool, we're so excited about what it will bring to the city and especially this great range of tableware from PWANP - what better way to celebrate iconic design and architecture than owning your very own piece of history."

The Liverpool range from People Will Always Need Plates is available from April 2008. Call in to Utility, 60 Bold Street, Liverpool or go online www.utilitydesign.co.uk . Prices start from £11.
