With spring fast approaching and London fashion week now over it will soon be time for some budget high street buys that will leave you feeling like a catwalk queen without leaving your bank balance firmly in the red.
Copycat catwalk couture is now a firm part of the high street and is great for those of us who like to be at the forefront of fashion but do not have the wallet to back it up. Below is a pick of the worst and best fashion trends of spring and summer 2008.
It's a good time to go all out girly and indulge your flirty side with some seriously sexy floral prints. They made a feature on the catwalk this year and are a must have part of this springs fashion wardrobe.
The Floral Look -
Janine Mitchelle, 24
The key to this look is to keep it simple. Think understated femininity as apposed to all out floral warfare. Team a pretty floral printed top with jeans and sandals for laid back girlie glam. Alternatively a floral dress with chunky heels is hippy chique.
Nautical Look
Emily Rippon, 22
An unusual but somehow likeable trend this summer is all things nautical. It's probably not going to be a fashion staple to rival the little black dress but its a definite trend over this spring/summer. An anchor necklace or stripy T-shirt wont require too much damage control if this turns from a fashion do into a fashion don't.
Get your trendy oversized sunglasses at the ready. The latest colours are bright with a capital B. Think hot pinks, trendy turquoise and startling blues. The bold colours won't help you fade into the background so prepare to be noticed. From blouses to dresses its bright block colours all the way.
More fashion faux pas than fashion forward is the instantly dislikeable safari dress. Safari dresses made an appearance on the catwalk and will be winging their way on to the high street.
It is not flattering for any figure and the dull colours aren't likely to inspire anyone. This is a fashion trend that should be left to those who are actually going on safari and not to Tesco's for a loaf of bread.
The next fashion trend of this year that should make its way into the sin bin (and in all likelihood the bargain bin) is a dip-dye called "ombre". It made its way onto the catwalk at the New York fashion show along with tie dye. Dip-dye is like a twist on tie-dye but blends one colour into another. It looks messy and is a reminder of cheap holiday sarongs bought in a moment of madness.
Overall this spring and summer is a good time to indulge your feminine side from bows to florals, brights to star prints there is something for every size and shape.
