The WOMBATS have announced that they will be playing their biggest headline show to date at the Echo Arena Liverpool on Saturday 22 November 2008. The WOMBATS will be one of the first indie bands to play the 10,000 capacity venue, amidst a sea of more established pop acts like Duran Duran and Elton John. The show will be the last UK performance for The WOMBATS in 2008 and in keeping with true Wombats style it is set to be a mammoth homecoming party to thank all the fans for what has been a truly amazing year. Very special guests joining The WOMBATS party will be announced soon.

Tickets for the Echo Arena show will go on sale at 9am on Friday 25 April, 2008.

The announcement of the Echo Arena show follows on from an extremely hectic year of live dates for The WOMBATS, starting with their forthcoming sold-out UK tour in April-May, which includes dates at London's Brixton Academy, The Royal Albert Hall and the Manchester Apollo; as well a packed-out festival season which sees them co-headlining the NME/Radio 1 stage at the Carling Weekender, playing the Other Stage at Glastonbury and playing T In The Park, Isle of Wight and Oxegen. Meanwhile in Europe they will play at no fewer than 17 festivals, including Ibiza Rocks and Pukkelpop - not forgetting a quick trip to Japan to play Summer Sonic and Australia for Splendour.

The WOMBATS are Matthew Murphy (vocals, guitar, keyboard), Tord Øverland Knudsen (bass, vocals) and Dan Haggis (drums, vocals).

Tickets go on sale on Friday 25 April @ 9am.
